My wife and I planned a vacation to southern Florida for February and the first week of March. My personal plan was to take advantage of being near the ocean as much as possible and then head north to cave country whenever a spell of bad weather was forecast, trying to gather teammates at the last minute. Miraculously, there was no bad weather whatsoever (although I just had my dive to the RBJ for tomorrow called off because of high wind expectations), so I never went north. I got in some great ocean diving and spent a fortune on helium, but I never got to the caves.

We leave March 8 and head north to eventually get to Colorado. The route is unclear. I could stay a couple of days in the High Springs area, or I could go to Marianna. I would love to get into some cave somewhere, and if anyone is looking for something to do around that time, I would appreciate the company, since I am not a solo diver.

I have full cave (NSS-CDS), achieved last April, but I have not logged a single cave dive since then. Anyone willing to slum with me would have to accept those limitations.

Please send a PM if your are interested.

Would like to take you on your first dive, but we're not going to be there until the end of the month. I'm sure you will find plenty of people willing to help. It's pretty slow this time of year on weekdays, so just showing up and hoping to team up with someone isn't a safe bet. It would be on weekends, however, at places like Ginnie, Peacock, and JB.

Hope you and your wife have a nice trip.

When exactly are you going to be in cave country?

I leave South Florida March 8. I am pretty flexible over the next couple of days.

I can probably get up there that weekend and do a couple of dives with you if you'd like - Saturday 3/12, maybe Fri 3/11. We could start out with something simple and then see how your comfort level is.

Let me know.

How things do change overnight....

I was supposed to dive a wreck called the RBJ today, but it is too windy and the trip was canceled. We may try again Friday, but the weather forecast is iffy for that as well. I would really like to do this dive, and, perhaps more importantly, I have filled a bunch of tanks in preparation for it. That includes doubles with 15/55. I would not like to leave here with them still full of that, and I would prefer not to use it for a relatively shallow dive. It is consequently possible that we will stay another day or two if necessary to get taht dive in, thus delaying my trip north. The weekend thus might come into play.

Doubles are $20 in cave country, so I wouldn't worry too much.

I hadn't thought of that. I actually just checked Amigos, and he advertises $10 a day for a set of doubles. No worries, then.
