MSilvia:
Considering you were diving for lobsters in a place where tons of people dive for lobsters, it's about what I'd expect. You'll have better luck lobstering from a boat, or from a beach that's inconvenient to park at. Easy access means lots of competition.

My record is 6 keepers in a 20 minute dive off Outer Brewster (site of the proposed LNG facility).

True. Unfortunately we don't own a boat and charters add up pretty quick when your wife is your primary buddy. You're right though, we did a lobster dive trip with Cape Ann Charters this summer and we did see several decent size bugs. We just didn't do so well at getting them out of their holes. Still learning the tricks of the trade I guess. Amazon got her first one on that trip though so it was ok.

On the plus side with Back Beach, I have seen some interesting things in there. The juvenile eel I found was pretty cool to watch going about its business. I found that if you stay low and use a tickle stick to move the kelp out ahead of you that they don't notice you right away and spook. The striper that follows you around like a dog begging for a treat is fun too.

The last time we were there Amazon and I were discussing whether or not to make the surface swim out past the mooring area to the outter lobstering area. We decided against making that long of a surface swim but apparently someone overheard us and thought it was a good idea. Before we left he came over and told us that he got four fairly decent bugs out there. Next season I plan to borrow a couple of DPV's from my friend so we can get out away from the crowd.
