I do agree the you sould not do this to lobsters but I have brought up claws that have detached when I tryed to get them out of a hole, So i guess I need to leave the claw for the fish to eat. You learn something every day. Thanks.

That happens to me too sometimes . Even if I can get the lobster after that, I just feel too guilty and put the claw back in the hole. I think some lobsters know that and drop them on purpose to make me feel guilty :D . I once saw a lobster just drop it in my general direction and swim away. I must look mad scary under water. :eyebrow:

Please show me where this is written I have the DEM laws for RI right here, nothing saying you can not do this, I may be missing something. Because I would really like to know, I do not do this pratice but I have heard of many that do. I do not want to miss lead anyone either.

The RI laws are worded slightly differtly than the MA laws but it is basically the same. FYI here is a direct cut and paste from the RI regulations:

15.19 Mutilation and/or Possession of Lobster Meat; cooked and uncooked
(a) Mutilation -- (1) No person shall mutilate any uncooked lobster by severing its
tail from its body or have in his or her possession any part or parts of any uncooked
lobster so mutilated. In any and all prosecutions under this Section, the possession
of any part or parts of any uncooked lobster so mutilated shall be prima facie
evidence sufficient to convict.
