Susan, you are correct about the cost difference between the 2 resorts. However, we paid twice as much for airfare to get to Roatan as we do to Little Cayman.

I was very curious about the 2 bags being allowed for the Otter flight to Little Cayman, but nothing was said. I personally would not take the chance of not having my stuff! I pack light enough and really you don't need a lot when you are in Little Cayman.

On other option is Paradise Villas (right at the airport) - Dive Shop is Conch Club Divers - they go out of LCBR - slightly more laid back, i thought they were great - you get an efficiency kitchenette plus the Hungry Iguana is there. That way you aren't locked into the resort for all meals.

Is Conch Club Divers the same company as Reef Divers or they different companys.

Conch Club and Reef Divers are two seperate operations, not owned by the same family.

They both operate from Reef Divers dock.

They both do an excellent job.

It is currently two bags up to 55 pounds total. Plus a carry on up to 15 pounds.

What about a personal bag, such as camera bag or similar type bag, besides the 2 checked and the carry on?

A purse is okay, and I have seen computer bags being okay. It is really at their discretion. No real policy that I have seen that allows it.

Inconsistency is the key...

In 2006, I carried a 12" laptop in a petite & slim little messenger bag and they insisted on weighing it too and adding that onto our total.

In 2007, we ran into bad guidance regarding CAL's duty-free handling between GCM and the Sister Islands (not a flight back to the USA), and instead of abandoning the items at the carry-on X-Ray machine, we had to rush back and check what had been one of our planned carry-on bags.

In 2008, we discovered that CAL has somehow "lost" around ~7 years worth of our Sir Turtle Frequent Flier mileage accumulations.

Increasingly, I'm reminded of Chris McLaughlin's description of CAL that he said to me back in 1989: "Those who fly us, have to..."
