Of course, if you're on Wings, there is no business class. I remember flying Lion/Wings a few years back from Lembeh to Kaimana. Each of us had 30 kg checked baggage, and it cost us over $200. And that was the best thing about the Lion Air flights. Everything else was worse. That said, I prefer a system when I can pay in advance. At least there is some transparency. On our Lembeh-Kaimana flights, the amount we were charged seemed entirely the whim of the gate agent.

It's been about 5 years or more but Lion wanted $40 for my checked luggage but only $60 to put me in Business Class that came with free checked luggage. I was the only Business class traveler on that flight and economy was packed to the rafters. I'm still pleased with my choice that day even though it was a complete PITA to get organized on the ground at the time.

I find out the Batik flight from Ambon to Makassar & Lion Air from Makassar to Denpasar no longer have business class. :(

Ask again when you get to the desk. If that doesn't work, ask if they have VIP seat you can buy. I only suggest this because they had two VIP seats at the very front of the plane on an Xpress Air, that I took once from Jakarta to Sorong.

I went to Lionair's site today to try to book the SOQ-KNG flight I need for December. As usual, US credit card doesn't work. I can go to NusaTrip as I have before but they don't offer the ability to purchase baggage allowance on their site. Anyone have a workaround for this?

Apparently Nusatrip just fixed this. After you add the flight to your shopping cart, the site moves you to the booking page. There, below the total price is a button allowing you to add up to 30 kg per passenger. I've already done that here so it shows the 30kg. The receipt I received shows the additional baggage purchased.

Do they allow you to pick a seat?

EXACTLY MY QUESTION.

Perhaps try a different Cr. Card provider and/or a different bank. For my bank and card it just routes you via a SMS check to your local number and then works.

Same issue with other cards. Maybe a problem with US issued cards. Incidentally the screenshot is for two two tickets and 2 x 30kg luggage. The price was the same on both sites.
