My SMB line unravels even though it's clipped off in my pocket.
It is inconvenient to say the least when I want to remove it and shoot the bag, and the line is all over the place.
Has anyone else encountered this?

Literally never happened to me +/- 10 years (the other 10 years I wasn't using an SMB/spool - and was kneeling on the bottom...).

Didn't read all the comments - make sure enough tension on the line when clipping to the spool - if issue exists contact fundies instructor (if no fundies instructor - take fundies).

Matan.

+1 for tension on the line before clipping off, clip it off a hole past whichever one it ends up at. It'll loosen a little when it's wet, so make sure to start getting it tight on the last handful of wraps so that it doesn't pull slack from further down the line.
