That is absolutely not my point, if you have some CONSTRUCTIVE to say, then by all means you are welcome, but if you're just going to complain about all the discussion, then yes, stay the H-E-double hockey sticks out, especially considering some of your inappropriate earlier posts are probably one of the leading reasons SB is not getting a singles forum. As someone who's benefitted romantically through SB I would think you of all people could recognize how this could be a good thing.

Ben, look, I am not against a singles forum. My point is that many of you aren't respecting the moderators when they have said they are checking into it and are considering it.

My very constructive criticisms were that most of the points made thus far in favor of the forum aren't good ones. I think that filling out a complete profile, using photos and not having the BAD attitude as above would help in finding and SO on Scubaboard. Also, put it in your tag or signature as someone mentioned before. I know of a few that have hooked up here on SB without a singles forum. For those saying they would like it to find a dive buddy not an SO, there are plenty ways to find that in the geo forums.

Maybe if the moderators had a break from moderating all the threads about wanting a singles forum they could have long ago decided why they should have one.

I feel confident that they haven't gotten questioned this much in public for their decision making process on any descision before.

BTW, I haven't benefitted romantically through SB. I have met a lot of great people and some that I am sure have potential to be great. :) But, you are mistaken there. You've gotten so confused. Rest asured that nothing I have posted has been inappropriated enough to sway the moderators to not have this forum.

I must admit, some of RavenC and SeaJay's posts, especially on those 2 threads that stared this whole debate have been enough to make me vomit, BUT...If those 2 references are what we consider inappropriate, then I'm on the wrong damn board!

I thought the name of the site was ScubaBoard NOT PCBoard or ChurchBoard or OhI'mSOOOOOOOOOffendedByEverythingBoard!

I realize there are children on this board, but come on, there wasn't anything said there that was that bad. It's obsolutley ridiculous the extremes to which we are taking PC these days. It's ruining this country. I hate PC! I won't tell you what I think it stands for, because my post would just get edited.

My remarks were certainly not directed at the mods or management on SB and I am sorry if that was the way they came across...having said that I still don´t see the difference (as someone else has already pointed out) between a singles and for example womens forum but I guess we´ll see how it all turns out...

I don´t see how discussing an issue that the mods feel important enough to discuss while they´re doing it shows disrespect...at worst it might be construed as lobbying but thats what people do in other forums so I don´t see the point...maybe thats just me...

Personally, I agree with every reason posted for not having a singles forum, but I'd like to see a singles forum just so there wasn't 100 posts that say...what I did on my summer vacation...for SINGLES ONLY...or something along those lines.

Hello all

I've been off the board for a while and when I come back you've redecorated !!!! Remind me to tell you about the fantastic week I had in the Red Sea in the mean time :)

This board is starting to look a little different and I can't believe these arguments. A few points from a single irish diver;

1) It shouldn't be more work for moderators but if it is we'll volunteer to help.

2) if it is, eventually it will get pulled and closed

3) I don't understand why any non single divers or singles who don't want it care? You don't have to go there but you are welcome if you choose to.

4) We need some clarification, there are single divers and independant divers, those without partners and those without buddies, two different things, is this targetted at one or both?

5)There are things I would like to post in such an area, of interest to others like me, that are not inappropriate in any way, that I would not want to post in the main board. If I told you what they were here then that would make a liar, so please trust me on this.

6) I don't see how it could hurt anyone, if we control it. We would need a heavyweight disclaimer and terms of use to protect the guys who un the board and to allow them to manage the content.

7) most of the in-appropriate content on other single threads did come from non single members but it does happen.

8) to prevent predators and other strange sorts it could be arranged like the instructors area, except you could only apply to join when you had posted a minimum number of posts (say 100), this would stop drifters from spoiling it from everyone. This would give the other members a chance to see if a) you are serious about scuba and b) if you are likely to be sane.

9) alternatively calling it the 'Solo Divers' area would keep most innocent divers from entering and being offended :)

10) the judges decision is final, this board is governed by the moderators, we agreed to that when we signed up, if they don't thinkits right or don't want to do it we have to accept their view. I am reassured by UP and others posts that say it is still under discussion.

Anyway who wants a beer? Its Friday night so lets all go down the pub and have a laugh about this, wake up tomorrow and go diving?

it is a lot easier to get a buddy when it is only schedule to work around and not the other baggage of SO's in the equation.

i can think of single related issues as some of you have already. unless it was designed as a dating service of course.
