why close it.... Oceanic hasn't answered yet in their own forum.
I think Doug's in Cozumel with the Scubatoys/HUD Mask trip. At least was thru yesterday....

For years Oceanic has been trying to beat LP at their own game. To find out the grey market sources. As soon as they find one out, another pops up. It's kinda like trying to get rid of 'drug dealers'. It's a never ending battle.

Solution: If you can't beat them, join them. (make them authorized).

The 'greymarketers feeling the hit in their pockets' might be what part of this was intended to do.

1st, it brings LP on level playing field with competing dealers.
2nd, it removes the 'no warranty' tarnish of grey-market goods on the manufacturer name.
3rd, it pinches the grey market dealers from their reselling to grey market.
4th, overall it provides better Oceanic support to their customers.

Most dealers will support this. Most customers will support this.

Now... that' leads to the next question.

When will Aqualung switch over to being an Authorized dealer with LP? :rofl3:
I wonder what's in it for Leisure Pro. It seems they have found a competitive advantage and are making the most of it. Why would they want to "level" the playing field and do something like this voluntarily?

In a lot of cases they are cheaper and when I spoke to them they seem to be going out of their way to provide the same service you could get elsewhere (ie free parts for life when you send your reg in for service to them; they even pay postage).

I think this whole MSRP and MAP pricing situation is BS anyhow. Competition is what makes the market place better.

I've read hundreds of posts on this forum about this very subject, and its always vigorously debated.

If LP becomes an "authorized" retailer for some brands that they currently aren't - I hope the manufacturer will keep their nose out of the pricing situation and let LP do what LP does best. Price and service will find its natural level.

I think if some of the LDS's that post here spent as much time trying to come up with new and better ways to compete as they do defending their current situation, they could continue to grow their business no matter what LP does. I think ScubaToys is a prime example of that. From what I can tell their business continues to grow because of how they approach business and customer service.
