I learned today that LeisurePro is owned by the same folks who own Adorama, a camera store where I happened to buy my underwater video housing, as well as various light kits and other gear over the years. B&H is my favorite camera store but on occassion Adorama has slightly better prices.

Rick

If fact, Leisurepro is on the 4th or 5th floor of the same building where Adorama is on the first floor. When I was there, they told me that they went from photo equipment to UW Photo equipment. When they decided to further branch to all Scuba equipment, they set up the separate operation.

Well before this whole posts gets onto the anti-seministic band wagon and ruins the whole intent of the thread with that nonsense and silliness.......I'd like to get a few words in with regards of my experience.

I have order a few din adapters from them last Thursday, just after noon, and as I found out it will not be shipped until Monday morning, possible Tuesday. The parts are in stock yet they will not go out. The C/C has already been charged (or at least a hold put on) that afternoon, yet I have to wait 3-4 days before the parts get shipped. Why can't they ship the parts on time and everyday like most other businesses?! Why do I have to wait that long, even though I selected the 2day shipment, technically it's not that yet they still charge you for it. For me 2 days means get it Saturday or latest Monday morning. And when I called to inquire about the shipment and what not, the guy on the other hand was only so happy to get rid of me.

For now, let's just wait and see what happens.

I think Friday and Saturday are Religious days for thier faith. When I have ordered from them on a Thursday it didn't go out till Monday either.

Normally they ship next day though. I've had very good service from LP. It is also very easy to return items to them.

So why do I have to suffer because of *their* religion?! The rest of the world doesn't stop just because they do. If *their* religion doesn't permit them to ship on Friday then why not a hire a person that can and will work on Friday and Saturday - if they want the business then they should have to live and play like the rest of the world. no?

I always thought that customers that make the business bloom should come first, that is how I understand it and practice it. Perhaps not I guess?! I guess I am just pissed that I had to pay for the rush shipping for no reason.

An informed customer is a better customer. Here is LP's shipping policy:

"When do we Ship
Deadline for next Day & Overnight shipping is 12:00 PM EST
We only ship 4 days a week, Monday through Thursday, therefore all Overnight & Blue Label orders placed after 12:00 PM EST, will ship on the following shipping day. All other orders should ship in 2 business days.

We normally process and ship all orders within 48 hours. If you require faster service, phone your order in before noon (Eastern Standard Time) and specify RUSH SERVICE. We'll get it out the same day at a minimal $5.00 charge and ship by UPS 3 Day Select"

Rather than blasting a company for having policies that you are 1) not aware of because you didn't bother to READ their policies, and 2) are based on THEIR religeous beliefs that are in fact protected in our constitution, maybe you'd be better off contacting LP, and seeing if they will change the shipping method.

If you don't think that MOST businesses in the USA base their schedule around a religion open up your eyes. Try and purchase liquor in CO, or VA on a Sunday, try to visit your doctor on a Sunday, try and get your car serviced on a Sunday, try and Mail a package on a Sunday!

The bottom line is YOU Screwed up, not them, and now you are here complaining about THEIR business policies which are clearly stated, AND they have instructions on WHAT to do if you want a Rush order which you did not follow.

If you want top notch service and great prices I'd suggest you call Larry at ScubaToys. They are AWESOME and have helped me on a couple of occasions with question I had about my Ranger BCD which I did not even purchase from them (bought it used).

Perhaps I did not read their policy as well as I should have or did read them too late - but is still not right no matter what. Did I screw up? Don't think so, but you can look at it the way you wish.

As for bashing the religion, I did not, I simply stated that if their religion is so structured then why not implement a solution that can service the rest of us that do not follow their religion. But as I already mentioned, I do not want to get into any religious wars - there is a time and place for that and here and now is not that.

Oh and I did contact them regarding the shipping - too bad for me I guess.

Simply put, I will re-think future purchases based on the policies that do not agree with my habits and beliefs.

Just out of curiosity are you related to them or do you work them?

Some people remind me of a woman at my office who tells me on a regular basis how gross eating Shushi is. I have Shushi at LEAST once a week, and have been doing so for well over a decade. It's good for you, and one of my favorite foods.

The irony is that she has NEVER tried it, yet she has this HUGE negative and vocal opion about something which she has never even bothered to taste.

Some people's attitude toward LP is exactly like that. they have opinions on their service, their warranty, their business practices, and their sales staff, yet have
NEVER experienced anything with them be it good, or bad.

I have purchased Scuba gear on Ebay, from LP and other online vendors, from friends, and from my LDS so I am hardly biased toward any one method of purchase. Some
poeple, OTOH seem to believe that the LDS is your best friend. The LDS's I have used
have markups that often exceed the price that one can pay for the item elsewhere (Masks at EVERY LDS are a great example) I'm not clear how they can feel so happy with the LDS that is charging so much. Our LDS's charge OVER MSRP for most items, and I've visited just about ever LDS in the Denver area which is about a dozen. I do use my LDS on accessories where the price difference is not worth an online order.

I was just discusisng this with a buddy the other day who is faced with outfitting his wife. He basically indcated that he has overpaid for most all his gear as he is a DM for a local shop, and that in this case he just can not justify spending his $$$ with the LDS HE works for... IMO, that says something about general LDS pricing policys as he gets a discount.

Someone else posted the LP shipping policies very clearly.

Here in Illinois I cannot purchase a new automobile on Sunday. Since I observe the seventh day as the Sabbath, if I wanted to buy a new auto, I would have to do my shopping on a week night, because I work during the day. Very inconvenient. Why should I suffer because of "their" religion?

Since the Jewish day starts at evening, the Sabbath begins at sundown Friday. The business closes Friday afternoon, probably before the UPS, FedEx, etc. trucks come for their pickups.

Observing the Sabbath means no work. The store is closed, period. The rest of the world doesn't seem to mind, as LP seems to be doing a booming business.

dude, you don't. nobody's forcing you to buy from them. go elsewhere if having
shipments on Friday is of such vital importance to you.
