I have a set of regulators that I bought used from an LDS. They refurbished the regs before putting them out for sales. I got a set of Aqualung Titan LX and an Aqualung octo for $200. Pretty hard to beat.
Sell66,
Why don't you go to a couple of local dive shops and ask them if they can match LeisurePro's price? My LDS can't match LeisurePro's price but comes pretty damn close and at least I'd be covered with factory warranty not to mention that the LDS would do some tweaking for you free of charge just because you bought the gears from them. LeisurePro have great prices, but you need to know what the ramifications are. If all you want is the cheapest price possible, then go with LP. If you want a good price plus warranty coverage PLUS services then you should reconsider your position.
Annual services don't really cost that much anyway, and most of it is labor, so the free parts you get from having a ScubaPro warranty don't really mean much in the scheme of thing, but a good relationship with your LDS is something that you should consider establishing. There are plenty of good LDS around the LA area, so if you don't like one shop then check out another shop.
Let me tell you what having a good relationship with an LDS is like:
1. I was an idiot and forgot to put the cap back in the 1st stage and dunked it in water. My LDS disassembled the regs, dried it out, making sure that everything is working 100% again AT NO CHARGE. They could have and probably should have charged me for my stupidity, but they didn't.
2. If my whole regulator set were to have to go to the manufacturer for serious warranty issue, they would have lended me a set of rental reg at NO CHARGE.
3. If my computer were to conk out and they can't fix, they'd take another computer of the same make and model right out of their shelf and give it to me while they handle the replacement warranty issue with the manufacturer/distributor.
4. If any of specialty gears that I were to buy from them haven't arrived yet but I needed to go diving, they'd lend me their rental gears for free until my own came. Things like wetsuit or BC.
Let's see if LeisurePro or ScubaToy can do that for you.
BTW, this is Sea D Sea in Redondo Beach. As I've said before, not all LDS are that good or helpful, but the good ones are out there: Hollywood Divers, Eco Dive Center, Ocean Adventures, Pacific Wilderness (good but have goofy requirements for getting Nitrox fill from them).
PS Atomic Aquatics regulators are the shiz nit (in the parlance of today's hip hop youth), and they're local outfit. If you don't want your LDS to service your reg, you can send it directly to Atomic for refurbishment. Its head honcho is also known to make visits to the various shops and talk with divers to obtain feedback about Atomic gears.
