Hi Sjspeck and everyone:

That is not true...any certified diver is welcome at Scuba Sciences! A certified diver from any agency should be able to continue their diving education and training with any other store & agency.

In the 13 years that I have been with Scuba Sciences I have seen divers from many different agencies (PADI, NAUI, SDI, GUE, TDI, YMCA, LA County and some European agencies) re-take classes, take new courses, or take a dive trip with us. If they have completed a class with us, they will be dual certified (as their original certifications are still valid) and their new c-cards will be either ANDI and/or SSI depending on the course.

In fact, we have a Dive Control Specialist / Assistant Instructor Course starting on September 11th. I will be working with this class and am excited about it. We have a lot to teach the Dive Control Candidates! We have some neat classes and training coming this fall including working with Hyperbaric Doctors, Lifeguards, Physical training and more!
Tina,

Thanks for the clarifications!

I think you called saguaro while I was in the shop and I handed you over to charlotte. one nice thing about doing your dm with us is we are a very family oriented shop. Also you do your intern with reall classes. Some shops simulate them with instructors. I am doing a self study dm right now.

Tina....You are authorized to certify for PADI??? If he wants to be a PADI Certified DM...and then go on to be a PADI Instructor.....You do that??? I must be mistaken...I didn't think you all were a PADI IDC Shop???

That is news to me too Ron. Here all these years I thought they were an SSI shop. Now they are multi Agincy??? :11:
Now that is some powerful KungFu :lotsalove:

Read between the lines gentlemen. You can continue your education, not have a direct crossover. Translation = $$$. You will have to certified with whatever agency(ies) they are with. They are still SSI and ANDI. I believe that Paul is still a card carrying PADI instructor. But the shop has no PADI affiliation.

Just to clarify, if you re-read Tina's post she states, "a certified diver from any agency is welocme at Scuba Sciences". She also states that if a class is taken at Scuba Sciences, "their new c-cards will be either ANDI and/or SSI depending on the course." She never says PADI...she says all divers are welcome at Scuba Sciences, including into their divemaster class which will either be through SSI or ANDI. It doesn't matter what cert you have for open water, you can enter into the class if you meet the requirements.

If you are looking to receive specifically a PADI card, Scuba Sciences is not a PADI shop so you can't get the PADI card there. However, for their CA trips they usually take 3-4 Dive control specialists (divemasters) as staff and those folks do not pay for going on those trips. And because their are usually 3-4 dive control specialists on the trips they get a fair amoutn of fun dives in for themselves because they share the rotation of manning the back of the boat....so that might be worth considering too.

Karen

I have to say that I have never been ripped off by Scuba Sciences, nor have they ever failed to do something they promised me.

BWAA HAAA HAAAA!

Wow...that's nice...and I can say the same thing....all though they are a bit far from me and I don't go that way all that often....

Karen....I read what she said and totally understood it...but I believe the question was asked by a padi trained diver that wanted to know what shop in the valley would take him from a padi divemaster through the padi instructor level...that shop can't do that no matter how much fluff and stuff it offers...that was simply my point...
If changing direction is the desire of the diver then no problem... he should go for it...
I certainly have nothing against the shop, SSI or the people there...But what I read in this thread is a fellow diver not looking for another agency to finish his training with but to find a good shop in the same agency to continue his professional training....

Actually the OP just asked for a shop to do his DM with, and at no time did he mention PADI or that his certs were from PADI, maybe you just assumed it from the stores he's looked at.

Hi All,

I have a question for everyone in the PHX area.

I have been considering shops to start and complete my DM with and then start OWAI. I had considered Paradise but they are no longer in business, I had completed Rescue Diver with Oasis PHX, no longer there....(or not?)

Hmmmmm...may be...but from what he said here that he completed his rescue diver with Oasis....Rescue Diver...isn't that a PADI pre-req.....to divemaster, etc... ....may be it is the same pre-req for other agencies also....was there someone at Oasis that was able to cert in SSI??? I believe that they did cert from other agencies there also but if they are SSI then I stand corrected... :)

PS...I don't think I am the only one that got the idea that he is PADI certified in this thread...

I have no doubt he's PADI certified, so am I, among alot of other agencies, but his question at no time requested PADI, just a store, seems fair that any store interested could respond, only one did.
