As disturbing as it is, every lawyer I have ever dealt with has told me I should be one. i guess I like to argue. If I was I would be the one suing all the JA lawyers for malpractice. I have paid out way too much to several of them who did nothing for there money. Besides, I like to feel good about what I do, not screw people to fatten my wallet.
With all the lawyers in the world, why would anyone want to try to make it in that field? I guess the earler statement was right, can't make it in med school.
As you can see I have very little good to say about lawyers. Heck, even the sharks won't eat them!

H2Andy:
speaking of which:

why do so many people go to law school?

they're not smart enough to get into medical school

I got a better one. My X became a pediatric surgeon because he could not get into Vetinary school. A lot of people don't know that it is harder academicaly to get into vet school than medical school. It is more competitive and there are fewer schools.

He was actually doing some very interesting studies at U of Pen with cattle and THC. Seems it really helped them put weight on the cattle, the cannibis. Our teenager does not smoke because we emphasize how fat it will make you. am I off topic?

Probably... but that's interesting. If he wants to do a study with humans... I know a few who would volunteer.

about 2 years ago I asked for advice from Scubaboard lawyers on thread www.scubaboard.com/t70907-.html about the possibility of a class action lawsuit against Dacor for not honoring their "lifetime" warranty on their regulators. Not much came of it because Mares/Dacor came out with a trade-in program which cooled things off ....... there were still many divers that were not pleased with this and still won't purchase any Dacor products to this day. The flap started after I posted the thread www.scubaboard.com/t70450-.html about being "Dumped on by Dive companies again" the problems at Dacor.

Every lawyer I've ever dealt with has told me that my check didn't clear.

... the real reason I am posting is that I want to find out if anyone out here or there or wherever is a diver and a lawyer. If you are, how often do you get to dive? what kind of law do you practice? does the law affect your diving or your diving affect your practice? or any bits of information you would like to let me know, if it is generally about being a lawyer or generally about diving. I wanna hear your thoughts.

You have an obvious location advantage, so should be able to squeeze in regular day trips, but if you want to leave the islands it's going to be tough. Lawyers are pretty much paid by the hour, either you have the money to dive or the time to dive. At least until any student loans are paid.

My brother is a lawyer and is certified. But as a former JAG and current law professor, he doesn't have enough cash left over after his student loan (and now Southern California mortage) payment to take dive vacations.

My wife is an immigration lawyer and a diver. In fact, she's sitting a few feet from me doing a consultation as I write this (on Saturdays, I get to play secretary). It's her firm and we have the money to dive regularly, but we do most of our initial consultations on Saturdays and she's got hearings and interviews nearly every day during the week. The upshot is her diving is pretty much limited to one Carribean trip per year (I know there are worse fates) unless she changes her mind about Lake Michigan.

The only noticeable effect her being a lawyer has on her diving is that everyone on the boat feels free to ask her questions about getting a green card for their cleaning lady or their sister's nanny.

leesa, are we responsible for him, in any way? coming from HI, maybe he is a liability.

I think we will have to talk that one over first...

H2Andy:
Tom, if we ever go diving, you can rest assured i won't sue you if i survive, and
i won't sue you if i'm dead at the end... .

It's your family that sues when you are dead, "ON YOUR BEHALF".
