Dove Laurel Lake today at the dam. Water level is about normal. Visibility is good...5-10 feet at the surface, 10 feet or slightly better below 20 foot depth. Temperature at the surface is approx 60. Temperature at 80 feet was 41.

Saturday was the annual Laurel Lake clean-up; I happened to be there (for hiking, not diving) but didn't know in advance that it was going on. Lots of folks were on hand to clean-up beaches, trails, etc. Next year I think it would be nice to have a scuba crew join in the clean-up and assist under water, particularly at the shallow areas of the beach where folks are often wading/swimming.

That is a great idea. I didn't know about it this year. Working to better local dive sites is one of the missions of the KPP so if we could get a group together to go there next year it would be great.

I am glad you had a good dive...and the water was warmer than I expected. :D

Good idea to join the clean up. It should be fairly easy to as these clean up efforts are announced a bit ahead of time so they can get crews organized. Maybe we could do a clean up of the beach area, as GUEdiver mentioned, in the very near future. We could all use the ime in the water.

I haven't been diving in almost a year it seems. I got a b-day present consisting of a BCD, and this would be a great opp to clean up around our local diving spots. Is there anything like this going on anywhere else?

Clean-ups are pretty common at this time year. Most communities have articles in their newspapers trying to get plenty of help. Various civic groups usually are the main sponsors. We could arrange to do a clean-up at any time as our own group. There are some logistics to tend to but thats not usually to hard to take care of.

Would this be something we would be interested in doing as a group?
