All done diving. Going home tomorrow. Wonderful trip as usual. Can't remember a trip when I saw so many turtles! All on the shallow dives. Saw seven turtles on Cedril. Soooo happy to see the reefs getting healthier every year. Santa Rosa is really starting to look like it did before the big hurricane. Just beautiful. I mean it's all looking much like it did 10 years ago.
Two big mistakes on my part. Rain and wind Monday, froze my you know what. Didn't bring my wind breaker (moron), because my wife used to make sure all those things were packed. For you first timers to Coz....don't let the warm weather and sunshine fool you. One of the coldest days I ever spent was doing a SIT on a boat in a thunderstorm in Cozumel. Even colder on the trip back. Bring something warm and waterproof.
Finally, I actually had a "Dandy Don" sighting. In fact, we shared tacos and burritos at Los Otates in the local section of San Miquel (Ave 15). I've always found the best food is where the locals eat. Two of us pigged out for $20 US, including a very generous tip. And you'll see menu items you won't see in the tourist zone. Los Otates has a "special taco" selection. How about a cow head meat taco? No? Well, try the beef eyeball muscle taco. Don and I passed on that, but if you like sausage try the Chirizo tacos. Outstanding. You simply have to try the local places. You can eat two outstanding meals (and leave food on the table) for the price of one meal in the zones.
Going home tomorrow and already planning the next trip. Dive safe.
