Danktex & I did a couple of dives at WP Private today. It was very nice, no one else in the water.

First dive was down to a max of 84' with about :24 mins spent below 80' and a total of :45. Pronounced thermocline at about 60'. 64 df above and 53 df below. Vis was quite variable depending where you were but the best vis was from about 60' down I would say. Some places vis was no more than 5' and I would say the max was around 15'.

Second dive was for :42 with a max of 70'. Quite a few fish on both dives above the thermocline. The higher water level is so nice.

It was great to get back in the water. I think that was the longest dry spell I have had since starting to dive. Very enjoyable and relaxing dives. Thanks Dan,

Willie

Had a friend dive WPP this past weekend....he report sim. conditions Willie. Nice to hear the lake is again healthy! Wonder if LVX and Ian are using those plastic 'cards' of theirs--lol...:D

Just went out myself, and I have to say it was cold as all getup at depth... We dove Mansfield Dam, Jailhouse 1. The surface has a LOT of debris floating around, but once you get close to the dam, its fairly clear. Surface viz was actually fairly amazing (15ish) as we dropped onto the top of the jailhouse, and as we went down the front face viz stayed around 20 until we hit 130, then the muck layer made itself present. By 90' it was at a solid 53 degrees, and there wasn't a true strong thermocline noticeable except for a slight haze at 45'. Today was also the first day I've found the cow, pinguin, and Flamingo, so I consider it a fairly good night!

Thanks for the report. Sounds like I should try Mansfield next time.

We'll be there at around 10am. Hope to see you there as well.

Going to be there all afternoon/evening... but the UT class will be there, too, so if you want good viz, well, go deep!
