Kona Dive Week Oct. 29

I'm bustin out of the work frenzy and going to the Big Island for some fun in the sun. I will be flying over from Seattle Oct. 29 - Nov. 5. I will be traveling with my son Stephen (age 21) and we hope to do a week of shore dives and also the Manta Night Dive if the big guys are feeding.

Any local divers advice or help in making this a great week of diving would be well received.

We will be staying at the Paniolo Greens. Time share thing ya know. Not the best local for diving, but we will have a rental car.

We just came back on the 31st. Only one Manta showed up, but it was a nice large one and great solo show. Spent 2 days diving with Jeff and crew on Bottom Time, they ran a great trip. We went very far south and avoided all the typical dive spots. His website is www.bottomtimehawaii.com if you are looking for a boat trip. We had total divers of 5, 6,5 for the 3 days we spent with them. Boat was fast, smooth and well setup.

Had a great week of diving. We did most of our dives at Puako Bay. Did the manta night dive and had one small Manta show up for about 10 minutes. My highlights included a white tip shark encounter with lots of time for pictures and video. Lava Tubes, Sea Turtles, and any time with a Manta is good for me. Have trouble with posting pictures.
