With an attitude like that you shouldn't be a scuba diver. It is not if a shark will attack you, it is when. If you aren't ready to defend yourself then you should not be in the water. Easy prey that just give up are what is causing more bold, brazen attacks.

Yes I am trolling.

Either you have the skill of a samurai or you use touch to guide the knife into the sheath. Try that with dry gloves which: (a) are thick (if you count the liners); and (b) being less resilient than neoprene, you would rather not cut them.

Glad you acknowledged you were trolling on that first part. Especially since less than half a dozen scuba diving deaths were a result of shark attacks in the last 50 years in the US. I don't use dry gloves. That said, using a blunt tip knife, it's very easy to sheath with one hand without looking, even bare handed.

I now have my spearfishing knife on my left outer forearm.
I put my hunting dirk near the butt of my speargun. Talk about handy!

I also carry a knife (short) on my left waist, a z-knife on my left shoulder strap above the D ring and a pair of shears (which need replacing) on my right strap just below the D ring.

Yup. Your realization that I was trolling (or otherwise having fun) came only one post too late. :)

I already have a reel, flashlight, and sometimes camera on my gun. Got a pic?

I'm not a DIR diver per se, but I've tried to evaluate why this would not be a desirable place, and I can't come up with a reason.
A DIR diver would consider the console a bad place for his knife because he doesn't dive with a console. So, in terms of utility, it would be equivalent to mounting it on the cup-holder in his car. On the plus side, it would minimize knife maintenance and corrosion. ;)

There are better places than the back of the console. If your are only going to carry ONE cutting device that would not be my first choice for all the reasons already mentioned.

I have knife on the left side of my belt I can get to with either hand, and a pair of shears in my drysuit pocket, and often a second set of shears on my harness. But I dive where there is alot of crap to get hung up on and the thick gloves increase risk of dropping stuff, so extras are good.

048.JPG I would like to use the ocean master with the two safety locks near my console, but the handle has a metal nut on the end of the handle and did have trouble with the compass. so I tried the smaller ocean master titanium and no trouble with it so far (out of water),I like the idea of two mounted on the inner leg but not sure how that will work???
not a tech diver but to use one for stabbing sharks and one for opening treasure chest sounds ok.

The best reasons for carrying a big knife. :rofl3:

A leg mounted knife may have more of a chance of entanglement. Which would require having to reach down to free it. Some freedivers have died this way. SCUBA should not matter much. Some say inner leg no problem. I think why risk it if kelp freediver. Also having to bend body and/or leg to get and replace each time. If it is just for show or the infrequent emergency then it may do.

Two mounted on the legs sounds good. Just a lot of knives to install each dive and clean-up afterward. May look good though.:D
