Those are several of the things I was hoping would be looked at with the SW2.

It's that or some sort of CM unit but honestly I don't like things on my front.
The SW2 doesnt exist. It's been promised for years.

You could get a Genesis now and backmount the BO with it. Some of the same weaknesses as the SW1 but some are lessened and the build quality is higher

I've never heard of the Genesis and neither has Google, might be tough to get training on?

I looked up the backmount setup someone did, very cludgy. Unsure I'd dive that.
Are you diving a CCR now?

Going out on a limb here and going to say any unit that is "convertible" is going to suck at both roles (cue the SF2) compared to a dedicated BM unit. I would not recommend a SM CCR as anyone's first unit nor unless they really need it for the dives they aspire to. The sidewinder in particular is probably the most overhyped CCR in history.

Only done a try dive on a CM unit so far. Primarily a SM diver for all purposes. BM is something I manage under protest.
The SF2 I ruled out for many reasons.

SM CCR is great at actually cave diving. Everything else its terrible.

Tilt head up? Flood the cells with goobers,
float on the surface? can't breath,
zero water trap,
no place to put a 2nd deco gas,
its a bitch to have a stable suit gas spot,
suit heater pushes your SM tank out into an A frame
forget boat diving off a small boat

And you still have a bunch of crap on your chest like the O2 and dil Mavs

0/10 do not recommend unless you actually need a cave diving SM unit. @girlwithbigtanks may have a different perspective but I doubt it - we both dive sidewinders locally

I never tried so cannot comment based on experience. However I know many who dive it next to other units and like it a lot. At least half of them dive it mostly in OW. I would have tried it as well if it had an eCCR version.

Why do you think it gets more attention than it deserves?
