We decided to take a last minute trip to the Keys and want to know where to stay and who to dive with?

We would like a nice hotel that is not Ritz but not La Quinta either-somewhere closer to the Ritz but not as expensive! We will be diving mostly but would like a nice clean bed with good linens. We will have a car.

Hubby wants to wreck dive but I am not as keen about wreck diving. We have about 30 dives under our belt so far. Would consider getting further cert on this trip.

Thanks ahead of time!

If you're into a small boat, consider HMS Minnow www.hmsminnow.com
This outfit is a class act, will take out six divers max. They get you out early to the sites to avoid the crowds.

Minnow has an agreement with I believe it's called Suites of Key Largo for a decent discount. The suites are clean and there's lot's of room and a full kitchen. Also, they have two bathrooms, which is great for hanging dive gear and still having someplace to shower.

Good luck and have a great time!

You may want to take into consideration that Mini-Lobster season opens on July 27th--and about everything is booked up in the Keys. You may want to confirm any reservations before heading south.

Mini-Lobster season runs for two days and opening Wednesday July 26th and runs through Thursday July 27th. A lot of dive shops don't run lobster trips during this time, but all you'll have to do is ask the operator what they plan on diving.

Even if the dive boat is lobstering, the trip will be out to a reef where lobster hang out, so the dive would be interesting. Several dive sites we go to on a regular basis are also the ones we go lobstering on as well.

Check out Dive Capital for a list of dive operators in the Upper Keys. Anyone of them can help you with dive and lodging reservations.

Good Diving,
