The wife and I are new to diving (7dives each) and are going to Fla. in may for a wedding.
We want to spend a a day in Key Largo diving. We are looking for small dive boat who will look after us. Any suggestions?
Also what is the nicest hotel in Key Largo. I don't mind spending extra $$ to get a nice place.
Thank You.

If you want a small boat and you may be able to just book the boat for your group check out blusewaterdiver.net, another great shop is conchrepublicdivers.com. Both of them hang out on the board.

As for a place to stay take a look at azulkeylargo.com.

Divers City USA for the operator... they offer 3 tank trips and are top notch.

Like Island Ventures as well.

Nicest Hotel... hmmm ... the Sheraton and the Marriott seem to be the nicest.

Havent dove with them, but Pleasure Divers looks like a nice operation, Husband and Wife I think. Six people max..

Stayed in the Marriott, not a bad place and reasonable prices..

Conch republic divers and HMS minnow will do you right, for hotels i always enjoyed the best western and there central location

And there's Dive In as well.

You won't have a bad time with any of these ops listed. The Marriott is a great place to stay too - not cheap, but very accomodating.

I concur with Alex - Glen and Brent at bluewaterdiver (no"s") are a 1st class choice, especially for a new diving couple.

I know that Brent at Bluewater, and Gary at Conch, both support this board, and I hear lots of good things about them. I have not met them yet, but hope to do so on the July trip. When my son and I went in February we stayed at the Sheraton (nice, but overpriced), and dove with Quiescence. We were VERY pleased with Quiescence. Six pack boats, and very nice people. Very accomodating to newbies. When you go, you HAVE to eat at Hobo's. You will have a great time down there.

I just read an article in Scuba Diving Magazine (April Issue) rating the Florida Keys Diving. Conch Republic had tje best overall rating: 99.3, followed by Capt. Slate's Atlantis Dive Center: 88.6) www.dive.scubadiving.com
I'll be in Largo this weekend at the Marriott thru It's A Dive. That outfit was recommended to me via the LDS. Good luck and safe diving!

The Moorings, in Islamorada, is VERY nice, as is Cheeca Lodge. In Key Largo, the Kona Kai is hard to beat. If you don't need a pool, check out Island Bay Resort or Azul del Mar. Enjoy!
