Key Largo accommodations

I will be traveling to Key Largo for some tech training in a few months. I will be alone on this trip and I'm looking for a place to stay about a week that is safe and nice. I'm looking at the Ramada Inn Limited and the Hilton. I'm also looking at condos but I'd like to keep the cost to under$1400. Does anyone have any suggestions? I do have a preference for nice and comfortable-not looking for a "Keys experience" .

Contact speargirl on this forum via PM. She found a really reasonable rate on a nice hotel down there that nobody can beat. I'd tell you myself, but I forgot.

If Becky can't hook you up, I've stay here before ...simple, clean, reasonable rates, next door to Mangrove Mikes for great breakfasts. It's about 10 mi south (maybe 15 mins).

I got a great rate ($87/n) at Ramada, using a Friends & Family special rate for mid-March. But that promotion is over now. OTOH a similar promotion with Holiday Inn is still alive. It's not as good, but beats their other rates by 20-25%.

Best bet is to contact the dive shop you are doing your training with. Most of the operators in the Keys have arrangements with hotels for reduced rates.

Check out Condo rentals as well...sometimes they can be cheaper than the hotels (and you get much more living space!)
