.........Concerning my experience, what is realistic to expect for diving in Maui or Kauai? If I get my Advanced PADI Certification, I will still only have a total of 9 dives logged (4 being in 20ft of water in a lake). Do you think this would prepare me to do the Molokini Back Wall, Molokai, or Niihau? If I am not going to dive these places anyhow, should I even think about getting my Advanced certification before going?

I did the Molokai trip in June. I doubt the dive op that goes there, Lahaina Divers, would take you. We had 6-8 ft seas, 40ft-50ft viz, and its a live boat drop and pick up. The diver in front of me broke her mask and ended up with a black eye when a wave pushed her into the diver's tank in front of her while we were boarding after the first dive (her fault- too close). Seeing hammerheads is cool, but this is not your typical tourist dive. That said, I'd do it again in a minute!
