I always print it in color.
There are a couple customs forms. The last two times I've used the new one despite the AA stewardess telling me that it would not be accepted. I think that there's a learning curve in play.

This is the one that I'm calling the "new one": Inicio
Yes that’s the new one and it seems to have a QR code.

Like the stews saying we will be pulling up to a gate....

Yes you can.
Flew in on AA April 2, with the new version of the customs form that I'd filled out and printed.
It was accepted without issue.
They had lots of immigration and customs forms on that flight.
Sweet! Maybe it's just the Miami crew that doesn't stock the forms. I'll try it next trip with fingers crossed.

What do you mean by the customs form didn't work? You couldn't fill it out online or the agents wouldn't accept it. I've used the online customs form for the past 5 or 6 trips.
Wouldn’t accept it. The info on the one I filled out in the airport was different from the one I found on lne

I think that plane crews have the forms if a Cozumel agent gathered them and delivered them to the plane on its previous visit. If not, then nope. Of course, if there is a change in particular planes, then the forms may well not get moved.

The immigration form is the most important one to me as I hate losing my place in line while I fill one out on arrival or trying to fill one out as I move with the line.

Yeah, I'd like to know exactly which link gave you a bad form? I've been using a blank form downloaded from Customs that I fill out by hand the day before I arrive.

This red text is what made me think the form couldn't be downloaded and used.

By the way, the form is a different color now. Perhaps it also has slightly different text as @ggunn mentioned.
