Fix the weighting out of the box, resist modifications, Its the rice rocket of the diving world, lol.

The searover compass os nice, and its neutral bouyant. I use it for OW dives, but other dpvs, etc will affect it like any other compass

I just read through your thread a few years ago when you bought yours and you were trying to figure out nose weighting. I also bought the vacuum bulkhead, so I assume that will influence trim and buoyancy as well. I bought the cheapest camera mount, but I don't think I'm going to put it on for the first dive. My thought there was I could use some spare camera arms and use my Sola light(s) using the ball mounts. Again, leaving the clutter at home for a few dives.

Every thing you add to it will likely affect the weighting. After you get some dives on it, you just have plan to add your modifications and go through the weighting process again.

Or, you can weigh the pieces you're going to add and use strobe float arms or other floats to make the camera setup neutral on its own. Then you can add/remove it without changing the scooter weighting.

Does anyone carry an extra DSMB or float for the DPV for any reason? 2 weeks ago, I noticed one of the divers on the boat hooking up a DSMB to the scooter at the start of the dive. Apparently, she didn't connect the battery properly or pre-test (was a Tusa), and it wouldn't start. She passed by me when I was catching a lobster, so I didn't ultimately see what she was doing with it. I assume she was floating it to get it out of her hands.

It is pretty normal to carry a lift bag for a scooter (whether secured on the scooter or just in a pocket or clipped off). The primary purpose is if the scooter dies/floods, you can clip the bag to it and send it to the surface, so you don't just lose your scooter - and you're not depending on your own BCD to have enough lift to hold you and a flooded scooter up.

A BT Tech weighs 29# on land. If it completely floods, it's going to be about that much negative in the water....

Speaking of sharing, I joined their FB group and they are pretty open about people sharing customizations.
What is the facebook group? do you have a link?

I got everything in, batteries charged, dpv assembled, and she fired right up.
