Well, we're mixing two things: 1)Pay parking and 2)Free parking. There are parking garages at la Jolla Cove (for example) just one block away that make things VERY easy.

My comments were in regards to free parking. MUCH more of it around the San Diego beach areas... but you do have to get there fairly early in order to avoid a 4 or 5 block walk (not a deal-breaker in itself).

I disagree with you. Laguna parking is much easier in my experience partly because of the new credit card enabled parking meters, also the population density is lower here. Coming from OC it's too hard to make it to SD early enough to avoid crowds.

I'm by myself so the prospect of parking a block or more away from the beach is out for me.
