So I brought my Mares Abyss to leisurepro for servicing. They told me it would take 3 weeks to service. My trip is in two weeks and I was debating all my options.

Anyways, I received an email a few weeks ago from leisurero about trade-ins. So I asked what they would offer me for my Mares Abyss. Their offer was around $250. I thought that was a good deal and took that to buy the Atomic Z3.

What you think? I had about 200 dives on the Abyss.

I actually like my Atomic Z2 better than the previous Mares regulators that I have used (MR-12 Navy, V16 Orbiter, MR-42 Proton). Perhaps, it's just me but I thought my Cousteau/Micra regulator breathed easier. I think you'll be very happy with your Z3. The second stage is compact and very light. The fixed cap provides plenty of routing options.

Would you mind posting a picture of your Z3?

Thanks,
O.

Agree on that one, I'm sure my Cousteau/Micra ADJ breathed better than my Apeks, wished I hadn't sold it, the bubbles initially bothered me but I swapped out to the larger T and that made a big improvement.

to the OP, Atomic make nice regs congrats. I own a Z2 it breathes nice and now the out if the box whistling has been fixed I like it a lot. Customer service is great too.

Picture attached.

Never tried an Atomic regulator. Well except for the Atomic SS1 which I have.

I tried the SS1 and was not too impressed by it. But that's an Octo+Inflator, so not sure how much better their 1st+2nd stage are.

Since the Abyss was like 4-5lbs. I will need to start using weights again for diving.

The mares abyss mr22 was an awesome breather.

Went diving with the Z3. Have some mixed feelings about it.

Good breather underwater. Above the water (pre-post) dive, the diaphragm starts flapping and making noises making it hard to breath. When the 2nd stage is wet, it's fine. I believe I was supposed to use the knob to control this.

The Abyss was perfect all around.
