well.. jim and catherine needed to get back out on the water after a long week..
so.. i took one for the team and decided to take my turn to help them man their new boat =/

we were gonna try to drop on the baby-barge, but capt.joe had already atempted it and said the current was kickin'.. so, we headed back to the corsair.. and that was cool, 'cuz i hadn't been there in a year (my nitrox cert with leda)

i guess it's never the same after the first time you see it.. i thought it had deteriorated drastically in just the past year.. ('wonder how it held up so well the previous 60+ years?)

here's jim giving catherine some words of wisdom and encouragment before she maneuvered the boat into the slip..

"well.. maybe i need a few more 'demos'.." heh..
jim showed us how to work the twins in opposite directions to make a 90° pivot turn within the narrow channel to line up for the slip.. great driving!

thanks again for taking me out diving today.. y'all are awesome!

. . .And the picture of Catherine crashing it into the dock a la Forrest Gump?:rofl3:

Oh man shes looking old and worn out! Gotta do her one more time...The Corsair you perverts!....I will pay one US dollar for a pic of Catherine crashing into the dock :)
I told you, next saturday I'll show you how to park that critter iffin you haven't sunk it by then!

hmmmf. First Jen calls me "an old wreck" and now you, my 'friend" are pointing out that I am in a rapid state of decline..... who needs enemies. (Boo, Hoo)

hey! we are not supoosed to be going on and on about this boat thing. Maybe once I can dock it, I will be able to shut up. It psychs me out to have to pass all those expensive boat props.....If I crash it, I will never hear the end of it.

VblueV....thanks for being a guinea pig and braving the poor viz today.

Hope to get a boat buddy team going here.....

Thanks for the GPS lesson, I may start a thread tomorrow as I think maybe Becky and Cheryl and Leesa might be into it too.

Kevrumbo...come dive with us!

My new fact McNugget: One minute= One Nautical mile

So...the seconds are devided by 60 if gauging distance. (that right JJ?) JJ is a navigator.

Yes, the Corsair is falling apart in the last year.... Also, a new mooring line we noticed. No longer on the anchor...has some tire pilings now.

that's right catherine..

1 degree latitude = 60nm
1 minute = 1nm
1 second = 100ft

but.. if given "decimal seconds" (.333)..
then you multiply the decimal by 60 (.333 x 60)
to get the actual seconds (=20 seconds)
(some newer gps systems will take either
as long as you tell it which one you're giving it)

yeah.. the viz was down.. 50ft at corsair.. and 10ft at koko's.. but i still saw a ton-o-critters.. a cabbage sized helmet shell.. 2 free swimming snowflake eels.. 3 giant sea turtles 5 feet long.. and of course lots-o-fish.
here's a helmet shell.. they're very heavy..
helmet1.JPG

and here's the new tire-mooring.. it's off the nose of the corsair..
(vice the anchor which is still lying off the tail)
as you can.. or can't.. see.. the corsair is barely visible in the upper right of the pic

Is the mooring now off the front of the wreck? looks like there was not current...were you still tied off?

yes, off the front. JJ did a solo and we had him stay on the boat while we went. We were moored. Then he drifted with the sausage over near Ko-ko crater..... we followed him and ran interference from the parasail boat.

Hmmm . . . you sure he's not trying to grab the wheel back? :D

Looks like you all had a great time - I'm jealous. Where's the little green faced smiley when you need him?

well.. icing on the cake.. howard's/(mark's) new thread:
http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=163704
reminded me.. on the way out of hawai kai that day.. a huge pod of spinner dolphins escorted the bella donna out to the dive site.. and even did a few jumps into the air just for catherine.
