I find the c-bite way too soft compared with the Comfo-bite such that it twists around in my mouth.

Atomic mouthpieces are great and super-comfortable.

Two threads going at the same time...

Another vote for a comfobite here. Immediate relief from jaw fatigue for me.

A huge issue may be your hood. If it is tight and thick you end up opposing the jaw closing effect of the hood with muscular tension in the jaw. I have had significant discomfort from this in the past

I use one of the mold-able mouthpieces made by Seacure. It fits so well that it takes zero bite pressure to keep the regulator in your mouth. In addition any bite pressure that is applied is evenly distributed over your entire jaw.

The molded mouthpieces work well, and finding the proper hose length is another big factor. This is one nice thing about using a long hose primary, the long hose is much more flexible and doesn't push-pull the regulator when you turn your head.

2nd stage weight or size has nothing to do with jaw fatigue; the reg is filled with air and this basically negates any weight difference between 2nd stages. I use a metal case 2nd stage that's pretty heavy on land, in the water, filled with air, it's essentially weightless. The hose length and mouthpiece fit are the big issues.

30" Miflex hose helps a lot to avoid any pulling- although I need to check if there has been any update on the recent issues reported with these!
A genuine Aqualung comfo-bite is my personal choice, no gripping with my teeth at all and always secure. They will not fit every type of second stage out there so beware of that and there are Taiwanese made copies around that fit other size second stages (like Scubapro) but I find them a little too soft, they tend to deform and not feel as secure as the original.

Could always get a Drager gag strap. Holds to your face and seals around your lips. Cheaper than a FFM, but still more expensive than a comfo-bite.

When the Comfobite on my Apex tore I tried the generic c-bite. No contest. Spend the extra couple of dollars and go with the "real" comfobite. I had almost 200 dives on that mouthpiece before I tore it and it was awesome.

Thanks for all the replies. I feel like a swivel and correct hose will probably help the most, but will also get the comfobite. How do you guys suggest I set up my hoses for the least amount of tension on the reg? I haven't decided how long or short I want each one. Also it was good to learn surface weight of a reg doesn't matter cause I am looking at an older metal scuba pro reg for a good price.

I have thought i really really might be a candidate for a FFM, but I watched Sanctum........ So yea.....
