Gidds:
And where would you recommend sitting to view such a spectacle?

I'd say the URI Bay Campus or Rome Point up in North Kingstown might be good places.

Rome Point sounds nice, if I come down the the Bay Campus I'll be sure to leer in your office window and generally act stalkerish:evil:...what time is the big bang happening?

So far they have a window of "between 10 am and 2 pm" but if I get more specific info I'll post it. And most likely it will be posted here:

Nice im looking forward to seeing what those new reef sites will bring

Well.... I said I'd post more specific info on the bridge demolition when I got it....

The big "boom" is set for 1130 am on Tuesday, April 11th. The URI Bay Campus is being set up as an official public viewing area. I imagine it will be pretty crowded.

Well, so much for my last post.....

They just announced that the demolition is being delayed a week. It will now be on Tuesday April 18th.

Looks like they moved it out another week to April 18'th as per RI DOT.

ah... just missed your last post... I've been away from here for too long.. out of practice :)

An update on this topic...the artifical reefs were placed two years ago, and no where near the U-boat). The sites are beautiful to dive on, and ongoing survey work is being conducted by the RI DEM in cooperation with several professional divers and researchers. Field work is anticipated to continue this season. As we need dive support, I will post information on how to get involved.

I just think the scary thing about those carriers as reefs is that they are so huge that if you sank one next to the U-boat it would still be sticking about 40 ft out of the water.... :D

Whats wrong with a 40' giant stride entrance? And we get to dive2 wrecks for the price of one...now THAT's and idea.
