Your "feelings" and your "wants" don't rationalize what is not the best method here. You can chose to do what you want but doesn't make it the best way to do it ESPECIALLY on long surface swim.

It isn't about speed or race, it is about efficiency and getting to the drop point in the most efficient and direct method.

It is a sign of inexperience in the type of diving that requires long surface swims. It is a sign of somebody who is outside of his range of comfort.

I'm going to agree with above. Swimming on your back is far from a sign of inexperienced.

So if you like to chat with your buddy all of a sudden you are an inexperienced, you want a nice leisurely swim looking at the sky so your inexperienced, or perhaps you just like to do surface swims on your back your inexperienced.

Outside realm of comfort is just plain silly.

If you excuse me I have to go tell 95 percent of NE divers that they are inexperienced because they like to do their surface swims on there back.

You seem to equating "best" and "most efficient". Others may have other (or additional) considerations.

I never said anything about what the best method is, actually i said i dont care.
To each their own on what products they buy or the way they get to a drop point.

For you and how you feel about it, sure. I dive to relax and enjoy. You do you buddy and I'll enjoy my way of getting to the drop with my bp/w and my Seaskin when it gets here.

You are hilarious 😂.
It's almost like you just want to stir a pot for some reason, enjoy!

I'm just gonna say BP & Wing. Once I tried it I never looked back and sold my vest. I recommend you try both though and see what you prefer.

Like this on the cheap

or this on the not so cheap

Thanks for everyone’s help. Looks like we got a little off topic lol.

Are there major differences or advantages/disadvantages between the DGX gear, oms, and dive rite? Are the DGX combo regulators good or should I look elsewhere for that stuff?

For regs decide on service as part of your process. Do you mind mailing them if there is no local place? If so get ones that you can get service locally. Do you want to learn how and self service? If so consider brands that make it easier to do so.

I was wondering if you ran away feeling sorry you ever asked.

I got a BP&W mostly because of the fit (L/XL height, M waist), still dive rental regs. I recommend buying a computer, mask, fins, and suit, and renting everything else for a few dozen dives at least. For those few dozen dives any/all of that stuff is likely to work equally well.

Why do you recommend that for the first few dozen dives? After that first few dozen, getting a reg set, what will be different then than getting as a combo now?
