Here's an e-mail I received today from Jacks Diving Locker in Kona:
Dear Loyal Jacks Diving Locker customers.
We are proud to announce two of Konas oldest diving operations have merged. Jacks Diving Locker founded in 1981, has purchased Kona Coast Divers, founded in 1983. Jacks will continue to offer Scuba and Snorkel rentals, air fill, and retail sales from the existing Kona Coast location at the Honokohau Harbor Fuel Dock. The main dive center, which includes classrooms, pool, retail showroom, repair facilities, and air fills, will continue as usual next to Outback Steakhouse in the Coconut Grove Marketplace. The combined fleet of 4 boats will depart from Kailua Pier and Honokohau Harbor.
Since its early days in the Kona Inn Shopping Village, Jacks Diving Locker has developed a reputation for devotion to the community, the environment, and as a leader in the dive industry. The addition of the Kona Coast Divers business will add convenience and improved service with the satellite location, boats, and staff.
Julie Cunningham, retiring owner of Kona Coast Divers, says, I have known Jeff and Teri Leicher for many years and feel that JDL is the best choice as new owners of Kona Coast Divers. Operations at KCD will only get better with JDL's experience and positive attitude.
Please feel free to visit our website (http://www.jacksdivinglocker.com) for information on our dive & snorkel charters, Scuba certification programs, kids camps and professional courses.
