I found a whole handful of dried spaghetti in a cylinder once. Looked just like the day it came out of the box. Now, riddle me that one. At least a wooden tank drying stick has some basis for why t would be in a cylinder.

Someone was planning to use the tank as a cooling pot and got distracted?

My guess would be that's a "gotcha" from someone trying to verify whether they were getting a real inspection. But I think I'd find it odd either way.

Holy C**P!!

This is definitely not a dip tube, at least not a 'standard' dip tube. It might be a drysing stick. But, it also appears that it could be a wood flute.

1. I presume your post is not a New Year's joke.

2. If 1. is valid, are you sure that the shop doing the VIS this time is not pulling your leg.

3. If 1. is valid, and you are sure that 2. doesn't apply, you really (really, really) should follow up with the shop that did the previous VIP to let them know about this.

Or, you can just try the tube out to see if it has a good sound, and learn to play the flute.

Utterly amazing that it would still be in the tank. Good thing you've moved to a new location and won't be using that shop any more.

Yes. It was before I owned the tank, but it was one of my dedicated tanks. First year I VIPped tanks for this company.

Haven't you ever put crackers into the sugar or rice in the salt to keep them dry? Maybe spaghetti in the scuba tank .......

Dip Tubes

Just to close the information loop, this image shows the dip tube and typical installation.
