So, I purchased a shoebox which included two completely disassembled Scubapro 109’s. One of the bodies and half of the parts looked absolutely brand new. The other were all badly corroded. The chrome on the good body is beautiful. The only “iffy” part was the purge cover which had some degradation of the rubber. I replaced the purge cover with one I’d previously purchased from VDH, jettisoned the old poppet in favor of an s-wing poppet with new spring and balance chamber, switched out the cover screws, plus installed a new orifice. Kept the old demand lever, as it seems to operate better than the newer ones I had. Hooked to it tank and it “cracks” at just over 1.0, without pushing it.

But, about halfway through the rebuild, I realized something was odd. Take a look at the pics. The air hose enters on the “wrong“ side. I probably did not mention that the exhaust valve is orange, which I assume means this was intended for use as a “safe second.“ I have rebuilt/converted a bunch of 109’s and BA’s; never seeing one with the air hose coming in from the left-hand side.

Is this rare?
