Zung,

The ultimate reg is actually the SP MK VII with removable plugs that allow the owner to pack anti-freeze grease into the ambient chamber. This first stage will deliver more gas than any two divers could ever need, has all the ports one needs, and honks if you get to "bingo" gas remaining.

As you are my friend, I'll be happy to sell one to you. :)

Couv

And it has the added benefit of allowing you to take a few pounds of lead off of your weight belt to boot!! :D

Many folks (not all!) consider the Atomic regs to be what Scubapro "should have been".

Not me. I understand the sentiment, given Atomic's use of high end materials like titanium, but the regs are increasingly complex and loaded with "features" that offer no actual advantage, like the dumb seat saver that actually prevents you from soaking the regs unless pressurized. I'd like to see a return to simple, classic designs with low parts counts.

In fact I think SP is going in the right direction re-issuing the G250 and now the metal case A700. Too bad we probably won't see a new D series. That was one reg design in which the engineering innovations actually had real-world benefits to the diver. I'd also like to see a new MK5, although SP would argue that the MK25 is already the end result of years of refining the BP design.

Maybe atomic, if their goal is to truly produce the world's most high end regulator, would consider a new 2nd stage along the lines of the D400.

What do you think of the Zeagle Flathead 7?

What is a Zeagle? Flathead Harley?

Any idea when Atomic came into the scuba market? I seem to remember in the pre-Atomic time, SP and Aqua Lung seemed to be the most popular ones. Now, there are new comers such as the XS Scuba, Zeagles, and 1ST trying to compete against the big ones and they do very well. Then there are the seemingly disappearing ones like Dacor and Sherwood. I know I must have missed to mention a lot more brands. Please add to it.

well, Halcyon has just introduced a new line of regs ! :)

Yup, they did. Haven't see one in the flesh (brass) yet, but they do look uncannily like a SP Mk25, Mk17, G250V and R380. Wonder what the service/support is going to be like as well as rebuild parts. :crafty:

The Halcyon regs are re-branded Scubapro regs.

An aside: How many folks have the HOG regs and have actually taken them apart to check them out? I like what I hear so far, but a lot is speculation/hearsay.

Peace,
Greg

Yeah, I did notice a vague similarity, now that you mention it, but I thought it was just an amazing coincidence ! :D
