I've looked everywhere. People sell used Alu tanks all the time, some steel LP100s and HP80s here and there, but never any HP100s. Should I just give up and pay retail for them? $400 each after tax.

HP100s are very popular tanks for singles and doubles; people who have them tend to hold onto them.

What are these LP100s you speak of? Do you mean 95s? 104s? Or those super-negative mid-pressure Fabers?

I bought for of them for great prices. Including one for $243 shipped brand new off ebay. Passed a few on to friends and kept four of them over the years. That said I dive HP130's for singles, and double HP100's otherwise.

Is that the -9.4 full, -1.7 empty buoyancy, 3365psi
or is it the -8.41full, -0.59 empty buoyancy, 3442psi
super-negative mid-pressure Fabers of which you speak?

I was thinking about the 3180psi Fabers. That's as close to an "LP100" as I've seen.

I was originally referring to any LP tank that was around the 100 mark.

I'll keep my eyes peeled on eBay and Craigslist... I'll just be spending more money renting as I wait.

There is one up on the Deco Stop right now for $275, but I think it may be local pickup only in Chicago...

3365ish singles and doubles are the only ones I really use being most commonly available here over the time I have been collecting them so I am biased but not really as long as there is plenty of air and physical size or buoyancy is of no issue to me because of my size but I mainly use 120 singles and also 85 doubles same pressure.depending on how many bits of copper I put under the bolt thing.
Whew. What a spiel. I should put this on my spiel page.
Please excuse me.

The Faber's a 3180psi 3AA, so 3498psi with the (+). I think they're -15/-7.

That said, with your gas consumption you'll get good mileage out of 72s. You can get them for $50+hydro super often around here, so if cost is a factor, I'd recommend those.
