you know, I remember a time where New Orleans was always in the news about their crime. (pre and post Katrina) or at least that was the "topic" of the week for awhile. I don't live in New Orleans but would if I could and I never did see a reason why I shouldn't go to visit Even when I would tell my family that's where I was headed and get all those "your not worried???" comments. LOL the news is what it is. "Shock and awe" keeps viewers and readers. not to say you shouldn't take some things lightly, but where ever I go I try to use the common sense I was given.

The only thing that has me second guessing is this economy! With two major trips planned this year, I keep asking myself if I am blowing it by not cancelling.

At least California is finally getting some rain...Not only are we going to be in a depression, but it might just be a dust bowl too!!

Funny, that's exactly why I just booked a family trip over spring break. Wall St. and the banks have stolen half my money and they're not paying me any interest on the half I have left so why not have some fun?

And Coz is definitely a great place to have some fun.

Ok, twist my arm!!! I'll be brave and just have fun!!!:)

Might as well spend it now...it won't be worth nearly as much in 6-12 months

Unless things have seriously changed in just under a year I wouldn't worry a bit.
Not only is Cozumel one of the safest places to travel, I wouldn't worry too much about the mainland either. A few of us rented a car last march in Playa and drove to Tulum and Coba, had a great time and didn't feel unsafe even once. If you owe money to a drug lord, or you make a point of trying to look rich, I'd stay away from the true border towns like Nuevo Laredo, Matamoros, or Nogalas. Otherwise, just enjoy the fact that you can take a great dive trip to such an incredible place like Cozumel for such a reasonable price! :)

Detroit
Flint
Saginaw
Bay City
Pontiac

A few cities I don't walk around in without paying very serious attention to my surroundings. All are less than an hour from my house. Crime is eveywhere. This is the world we live in. A few folks need to wake up and take a long look around them.

If Cozmel is not safe enough for you, well good luck. Get yourself the expanded cable package and stay home. I'll take your place on the boat........then I'm going to cruise over to Coconuts, brush a chicken off my seat and order a cold one.
