Hi All:

For those who are dealing with the failure of IR data transfers in Windows 10 due to Microsoft's dropping the infrared stack, I posted my work around in the dive computer forum:

http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/co...watec-ir-download-conversion.html#post7533289.

This will not work for folks who want to remain on Windows, but since I use both Microsoft and Apple computers, this approach worked for me.

I found this thread that claims the IRDA stack is not in Windows 10,
which if true, would much delay support for IRDA in window 10.

And HERE we have the answer, folks! :clapping:

I dual-boot to Win10, and find nothing about it that makes me want to change over.

If someone would just come up with an iRda to bluetooth adapter . . . . . :hm:

I have one of these on order and they say "it should work" but have not confirmed...

FusionIR | DiveMate

When it arrives I shall confirm.

Just a small update on my Fusion IR device.

Not only does it not work with Windows 10, it also does not have a driver for Windows 7 either.

I have emailed the makers relating to these problems.

The built-in Win7 IrDA should work fine. Mine does.

Hi, Just to confirm that you have the Fusion IR USB device?

My one does not work with Windows 10, Windows 7 or Windows XP.

It does not even work with Android, Android loads their app but not data is transferred so I am beginning to suspect my one is defective.

No. I have a generic $13 IrDA USB device, that works with Vista, 7, 8.1, but not 10.

Hi,

After encountering this issue with Windows 10 and my Scubapro Luna, and reading through the masses of posts all over the Interwebs regarding Win10's lack of IrDA support, the only viable Windows-only solution I have had success with is the virtual machine option.

I used a Windows XP virtual machine in the free VMWare Player and installed the relevant IrDA drivers in that with the latest SmartTRAK (2.081?). As drivers exist up to Windows 8[.1?] then you could use a more modern version of Windows prior to 10.

You may be able to achieve the same result with downloading a VM (virtual machine) from Microsoft (e.g. Install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7) and configuring that.

I haven't explored a Linux/Wine solution (https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=17128&iTestingId=55962) in-depth but, if someone were to create a VM using Linux/Wine with SmartTrak and IR connectivity working, then it could be freely distributable. This is not really an option with a Windows-based option due to licensing.
