Which dive insurance do you have (or not) and why? :lurk:

I did a quick search and did not locate a thread. Sorry if this is redundant.

My wife, son and I all have the PADI Plat. It's $99 a year or $79 if you take the PADI magazine. In general it has a max payout of around $275,000 I think. A single chamber ride in some place like Cozumel will run $4,000 - $6,000 and it might be higher in other more remote places.

Just remember that it is supplemental insurance and pays what your primary insurance will not.

Westfield for diving abroad to limit of certification. I dont have any for diving in britain as im covered by the NHS.

Went with DAN Master for my wife and I.
Wanted access to dive medicine experts, no hassle chamber coverage and everything in between. At this time I didn't see us needing as much ancillary coverage so we stayed with the mid range plan.

DAN also seems to be the most prominent resource of it's kind and is involved with ongoing learinings.

On a related note they are aware of local doctors that are dive savy and can get you connected with the right providers if you have the need.

After a dive my wife wanted to get her ears checked out and the specialist our GP referred her to happened to be a diver. That was great fortune, he knew what he was lookiing at and how to tell her what she needed to know.
