I have been trying to locate the Suunto D6 PC interface and face protector, and I got some good info that I thought I should share.

According to Suunto USA, Aqualung actually handles distribution of the accessories for the D6/D9. That's why my LDS could not find the D6 PC interface in their Suunto materials. And the parts are so new, they aren't even in the Aqualung 2006 catalog that you can download.

I emailed Aqualung for help, and this was the reply I got:

As the D6 is a brand new computer, the accessories have been quickly following. The part number for the pc interface is 12513 and the display shield is 12605. Anyone of our authorized dealers can obtain these items by placing an order. Your closest Authorized Aqua Lung Dealer can be found by accessing the dealer locator at www.aqualung.com.
I hope this helps someone else.

Update: I ordered the face protector from my LDS and it was $22 plus $6 shipping. $22 for a small piece of plastic is... irritating. $30 total is... well, worse than irritating.

Price aside, it's been tough enough getting accessories for my D6 that I'd look at other brands if I were buying a dive computer today. They've had what, 6 months to get those products into the retail channel?

Why "Shipping" for a LDS ?
not really "Local" !

Strange - in the UK I got a face protector (if you mean the cheap plastic thing with the black band) shipped with the D6 at launch...

Then don't break it like I did. :)

make firend with your lds and they might have some spares.

I purchased a D6 several years ago and wish I had just gotten the D6i. Does anyone know if I can just buy the wireless tank transmitter now? Will it still work with my computer?

yes you can but it separately but it is quite expensive...like $400.00 , however I do not see the D6 listed as being compatible...

Compatible with Suunto DX, D9tx, D6i, D4i, D9, HelO2, Vytec DS, and Vyper Air dive computers - See more at: Suunto by Aqua Lung Wireless Transmitter with LED Light

Its much cheaper at Leisure pro....

Scuba .com has the D6i open box for $650.00 and that comes with the transmitter....

The straight up D6 is an old product and I am 99% sure that it doesn't have the receiver built in.

If you want wireless enough to get another computer, I would also suggest looking at other options unless you just adore your D6. I abandoned my D6 for these reasons.

1. It was a big PITA to get the battery changed. Typical watch stores won't do it, you have to find a specialist. I decided I wanted a computer that would allow me to change the battery.

2. The screen is awfully small and I realized that I wanted a big honkin' screen. (Too small for a dive computer, too big for a watch, at least on my wrist.)

3. You can't keep the D6 screen illuminated full time during a night dive.

4. Did not care for the dive log software. (I still don't like the Uwatec software I have to use now, though it is better)

5. It is often said that Suunto's wireless pairing/transmission is not as reliable as other brands, though I don't have any personal experience with it.

There is a lot of neat stuff out there nowadays, shop around. I also wouldn't necessarily be afraid of a used computer.
