awww thank you, that's sweet. and i really really hope so-it's so easy to brush things off but it can be detrimental.
i was fully expecting to get ripped apart honestly because i've dealt with some AH people on here
Hey Kaylee...... There are alot of "AH" folks on this forum. Mostly "know-it-alls" who will never move their attitude from anything other than "my way is the highway". Ignore them. You are obviously on a higher road than they will ever be. The high road has a better view and the air is fresher!!!!

if i have a different opinion than them, i'm wrong. that's pretty much it for them.

If I can reframe the situation in a way that I hope may be helpful.

In the long tradition of scientific lemonade: Try to look at this with your researcher mindset. It is your first project ...
it's driving me nuts. sure, i could've been dehydrated, but that wouldn't explain everything. fatigue wouldn't either, as my symptoms wouldn't last that long. inner ear barotrauma happens, but that doesn't explain weakness, brain fog and nerve damage. then you think of DCS but the dive profile couldn't produce that. an AGE, maybe, but I didn't ascend quickly or hold my breath the whole way.
my body just hates me and doesn't want me diving. lol

You can white knight all you want or you can be helpful. As a DM you did learn about this when you took Rescue Diver, No?

Maybe take that list of deficits to a neurologist and NOT mention diving? You might possibly be biasing your docs...

i went to a dive specialist, so idk lol
eta- it was suggested i see a neurologist, i'll try to find one

@kaylee_ann sorry to hear about this unfortunate and undeserved situation.

I’ve read all 6 pages of the thread so far and wondering if I missed the details of the diagnosis. All I can find is an affirmative response to a question about nerve damage.

Can someone point out where I missed it? Or perhaps Kaylee, are you willing to share details such as was there some medical specialty of the doctor who diagnosed your condition other than "dive specialist" and how was the diagnosis of nerve damage made/which nerves? Was it just based on an interview, or some further testing done?

It might help someone else if we know what to have the doctor check for in a similar situation.

Best hopes for a full recovery.
