Didn't say I believe per se but I do that HE,deepstops,P02 etc...are only hazily understood and making declarative statements doesn't make them so.I use pure empirical evidence using the local experience of maybe a dozen guys diving this area and depths for up to 50 years with a cumulative 60 to 80K dives.I use an EDGE or BT on all dives and remain unbent and remarkably undead.I have had shin bend once a couple instances after 20+ days straight with sore joints that could have been mild DCS or just vaginitis.

I really enjoyed the last 2 sentences. Never been bend, but had skin bend. WTF?

You seemed to have missed the point.

Nobody's missed the point. We all get it: you and some other dogmatics worship the mythical O2 window, but after years and years of diving with results not confirmed to be better or worse than anybody else's approaches to deco...none of you have provided anything objective to back up the 'A equals A' stuff in the GI3 80/20 rant. The only hard evidence I've seen in this thread regarding deco efficency shows that as between 80% and 100%, it's a tiny difference. If you'd like to claim there's something akin to reverse homeopathics at work with that 20% N2...whatever floats your boat.

And that's fine - if it works for you, that's cool. If you get bent like a pretzel, that's equally OK by me. I won't even laugh if you do (unless you're Kev and forget how to do math while shunning dive computers...then I will), because whatever model one chooses, there's a non-zero chance of it happening. But claiming you can speak authoritatively on the right way to deco just makes you look silly.

According to a private email conversation I had with Jarrod Jablonski, GUE has determined that the research that had led them to make the O2 window part of their belief system has been shown to be faulty. They continue to use the concept in their ascent curve because it has been working well for years and they don't want to change it.

When I took the Ratio Deco class from Andrew Georgitsis, he knew that I had challenged that research and said that it did indeed look to be flawed. He came up with two other reasons to continue the familiar curve. I would like to tell you what those two reasons are, but I honestly can't remember them--which should tell you how highly I regarded them.

In Deco for Divers, Mark Powell said in the bluntest possible terms that the O2 window theory as being discussed in these pages is flat wrong.

I'm seeing a pattern that suggests why software programs generally do not include it.

a....by bent I mean symptoms sufficient to require treatment.Crackly skin or pains that don't go away at depth don't really equate to chamber rides or IWR being required.Keep reading,I am full of entertainment.

BTW,I commiserate with the GUE guys on this point..If you excel in any endeavor, there will always be those who seek to tear you down just because of that excellence.

Vaginitis? This could be a symptom of something far more concerning.
