At this time of year it is nice and toasty! Sorry for the semi-troll guys, couldn't resist. It was so cool diving fresh water. :crafty:

So what are the temps?

Is there an outfit there that does the specialty?

DING DING DING!

We have a winner. Right on, Ken. You would love diving Tahoe if you've never done it. It is beach diving without the surf or bazillion steps to deal with.

Tahoe. Fork Tails, spots.. what else could they be?

I fish.

A lot.

One of the reasons I started diving years ago was so I could dive the clear alpine lakes I often fish. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Some are in the 7,000, 8,000 and even 9,000 foot levels. I need to do some research on the effects and precautions for diving at altitude - but I am SO into it. I'm sure lots of people here do it. I just don't know anyone who dives above sealevel.

I will dive the sierras soon.

One of my buddies was diving Rubicon point this weekend. This post reminded me that I need to download his pics off of my camera.

Is this the same Cayfish then? :D

Hey Robert! We dove Rubicon!! It was so amazing!! Viz was amazing, water was warm, buddies are great...what more can I ask for? The only thing missing from making it almost tropical was the little colorful fishies! Oh, that and a frosty drink served by a cabana boy... :D

I thought Sport Chalet gave you free cabana boy/girl service with every regulator overhaul at the dive destination of your choosing! :eyebrow:

We were all very happy with our instructor Rod Sloan with www.sierradive.com

I would recommend him.

Temps were between 70-73 at the surface. Below 50ft it dipped to 56. A 7 mil was more than enough exposure suit.

Ken, Let me know when you want to go it would be a fun road trip. We were talking about trying to make another trip before the temps go down. When we are all dry suited up, it would be soooooo cool to surface looking at snow filled mountains!

Robert, I think that is the same crayfish! Man, they are all over the place.

Ann Marie, So a chai tea latte served by snakedr and I didn't make up for the absence of a cabana boy?? :07: Do you have a gallery you can post your pics? They are really awesome!

I echo Ann Marie's statement. Rod Sloan at Sierra Dive is a great instructor. The shop is in Reno. They will bring tanks for you for the course. If you want to do any other diving, I strongly suggest you bring as many tanks as you want to dive. Its a bit of a drive to Reno for a fill.

You know, come to think of it, you two are better than just any ol' cabana boy. ;)

End of September, October. I'll be half-way there in the Eastern Sierras on a couple of fishing trips - I'll just toss the DUI and the waterheaters into the truck, and we'll rock the place.
