I am new here, live in Santa Barbara, CA - have yet to dive the Channel Islands though! Only been on 10 dives, but been to some cool places like Cozumel and Roatan. Hoping to keep diving a part of vacations!

Oh man are you lucky!
You get to live in one of the best places on Earth. I used to live in San Luis Obispo and I love the central coast.
Jump on the Spectre Dive Boat (calboatdiving.com) and do a day trip. Great boat, easy dive spots, great barbecued lunch, everything about it is just fun and great!
