Hi,

I am a new member from Austria/Vienna.
I finished my dry suit cert in April and am looking for advice for gear here and dive spots.
Generally, I got a passion for filming and uploading videos to my YT channel.

I just finished some wreck dives in Malta, which I will upload soon; otherwise, I am mostly diving in Austria.
Cheers!

I've got a trip to Malta planned for September, I came across your thread when I did a search.

I would much appreciate you uploading your wreck diving experiences especially which ones you liked the best and why.

the videos i'll uploade will still take some time.

If youre a rec diver with deep cert & nitrox then i advice you:

MV Karwela & MV Cominoland (they are next to each other in Gozo) (max 40m)

P29 & MV Rozi (next to each other in Malta) (max 40m)

Um El Faroud (max 40m)

P31 (max 18m)

Generally its easier to get to these wrecks if you stay somewhere at Mellieha but closer to the Cirkewwa Gozo Terminal

If you're a tec diver I cant really give you advice yet but they got some nice wrecks way deeper than 40m too

Thanks! We are staying at Luna Holiday Complex which is in Mellieha and diving with Seashell (5 minutes away) who has put together a custom 10 dive/3 island package with at least 7 wrecks. It's a combination of boat and shore dives with a guide. I figured for our first trip to Malta it wouldn't hurt to be guided and it wasn't that much more expensive at $510 per diver including gear then doing a 10 dive package with tanks and gear. I will make sure to cover the wrecks on your list that we don't get to with Seashell when we do our own unguided dives. We got a car for the week at a surprisingly low $60 total.

I don't need to see the videos, I just wanted your "favorite wreck list" and any tips for diving them.

Thanks again.

I dived with them too. Luna is a nice hotel except that some rooms smell bad..
And i am not a fan of their british breakfast

My advice is to tell Seashell exactly what you want to do. They plan their dives around tourists and most tourists dont have the certs for wreck dives like deep and nitrox.
Other dives than wreck dives arent really worth it tbh.

If you make one reef dive u saw most fish there is to see..
At MV Karwela are some nice cuttlefish and Octopus but you will see them after the wreck dive heading back anyway

If you never saw a lot of tuna they also offer a Tuna Dive which is very interesting to see. From there i got my profile pic. I highly reccomend it

As far as i know a dive guide is mandatory by law in Malta and Seashell got some cool Diveguides/Instructors

Thanks for the information. Seashell is putting together a custom dive package based on our request to focus primarily on wrecks and confirmed we can penetrate some of the wrecks.. We will do about 7 wrecks on the 10 dives with them plus some dives with interesting geological features such as caves.

Unguided dives are ok in Malta, there are no laws against at it. Seashell will provide us with the necessary gear for those as well.
