Yes I can recommend one. My wife has been using the Oceanic Isla for 2 years now. She absolutely loves it.

I suggest you try a good weight belt before you decide on the weight integrated BC and some of the problems inherent to that rig. Fix for the weight belt coming undone is a good buckle - probably SS. Get comfort with a pocket weight belt and soft weights. The scubapro belt has a rubber backing to help keep it in place if the weight placement (front pockets) and snugness (adjust at depth) are not enough.

i was wondering why the scubal have such reasonable pricing on the bcd vests compared to the other brands on the market?what makes them different compared to the rest?

the first thing I noticed was the weight capacity. the ditchable pockets only hold 5.5 pounds each(11 total) . most mfg's hold 10 each (20 total) zeagles hold 18 each(36 total) you get what you pay for.

Confusus say: "one get's what one pays for!"

BTW: Integrated weight systems are teriffic.

What are the problems inherent to it? As Kidspot pointed out, you could still choose to use a weight belt even if you have a weight-integrated BC. A possible advantage that comes to mind is that if you have a weight-integrated BC with two pockets you could start by ditching just one in an emergency, resulting in a somewhat more controlled ascent. With a weight belt it's all or nothing.

They are less expensive because you pay the same price a shop would pay to get one from them.

They also have 2 trim pockets that hold another 5# each - gives you a total of 21# integrated. Having less weight in a pocket I think is a good idea (even if it can hold more) "If" a pocket falls out (I've seen that happen 2x to divers) you have a lot less to worry about with 1/4 your weight falling out than if you lose 1/2 of it.

If you can afford a Zealge (back inflate) or ScubaPro jacket - they have more features, and are more customizable. However ScubaL products are well made, with solid stitching at very low prices. At the moment you can get a free bag or full wetsuit with some of their BC's too - nice "add-on"

Course you could always go with a BP/Wing too ;) (sorry ... just "had" to say that - lol)

Have fun with whatever BC you get :D

btw - I have no interest in ScubaL, just a satisfied customer. (I've seen their BC's, but never purchased one)

Aloha, Tim
