You don't indicate what type of diving you will be doing.

I dive in New England Through Pennsylvania and in the Caribbean.

I can recommend the ScubaPro MK25SA/S600 and the Atomic B2 since I own both. My daughter who is doing her checkout dives Memorial Day weekend will now be using the ScubaPro MK25SA/S600 (which was my regulator until she needed one) and I use the Atomic B2.

The water temperatures I dive in range from the 48 F to 85 F so both regulators work equally well in both cold and warm water.

The ScubaPro comes with free parts if you have the regulator serviced at least every 13 months.

The Atomic does not come with free parts but only has to be serviced every two years or 300 dives whichever comes first.

Both regulators come with a first stage swivel.

I added the Atomic swivel hose to the second stage of the ScubaPro regulator. The Atomic B2 comes with the swivel hose that connects to the second stage.

I hopes this helps you out.

I don't work for either company. I develop software for a living. Scuba diving is a hobby.

To me, cold or tropical have no bearing on what type of reg you breathe. I buy what works, all the time, in any water. Apeks DS4 ATX50 The price is right they're simple, and they breathe out with any reg on the market.

Zeagle DS5/ZX or Zeagle 50D/ZX. Both have sealed first stages, are adjustable at the second stage and have lifetime guarantees as long as you have them serviced annually.

I am buying my first set of gear soon, so I have been researching on here and many other places. From what I've seen I'm going with the Apeks atx50. Many of the experienced divers (and unexperienced divers) on this board recommend them. I like that it is environmentally sealed because in my area the water temperature can get to the high 30s in the quarries during the winter. If you are only going to dive in pretty warm water then I would go with the Apeks ATX40 because it is very similar just not environmentally sealed for the cold and it costs a little less.

If you have an Aqualung dealer in the neighborhood, they are runing a free octo promotion. Save you some coin on a solid reg line.

I spoke to my shop about this. The occto's are bottom of the line unit's.
