I had to turn off the garbage filter on my browser to click the link...

Would be fun to play a bit with a Tavor. I like the looks of them. I have always liked the Steyr Aug as well, bullpups in general appeal to me.

Agreed. Full 16" barrel in a package that is overall shorter than normal. :thumb:

I'm not clicking on any link with the word 'liberal' in it.

I had to go there, just because Liberal and Gun Club are two competing concepts, never expected to be found in the same sentence

I hear these guys make a good product

Tavor-glamor-shot.jpg

I see where it it may be released in 7.62 NATO?

Judging by the quality of the Israeli made semi auto Uzzi I used to own in 9mm, this could be an impressive weapon.

Just goes to show the ill advised nature of stereotyping, least we forget... liberal ...conservative. are not necessarily or automatically tied to dogmatic democratic or republican platform. In reality they four are different aspects of two different concepts and are not necessarily requisite upon each other. Conservative and Liberal are life view concepts. Republican and Democrat are political party concepts. And blind partisanship and stereotyping is part of the problem as opposed to even remotely offering any meaningful solution. Not saying this is you, just offering a general observation based on your post.

:hm: Well, maybe pistols don't always have to have one in the chamber, but generally speaking I'd call that a brick. I pray I never need to pull a pistol to use in a defense situation, but if I do, I sure as heck don't want to be fumbling around trying to ensure it is loaded and ready to go. By the time I reach the point that I feel compelled to pull it out, the stuff is already flying off the fan blades. I don't have time to worry about racking it and check the safety, etc.

Let's hope that situation never arises.

Just some thoughts on the subject -

the 1911 was designed to be carried cocked and locked

in a quick draw shoot out you'd be in a disadvantage with a 1911 not cocked and locked

in a non-quick draw event you aren't

Your reasons and comfort level of why you carry and to what degree of protection you desire ultimately determine the condition of your fire arm in carry

For instance in regard to home protection there are tremendous degrees of readiness, someone could easily make the argument that a home protection firearm kept on the nightstand in a gun safe is not as adequate as a fire arm in a drawer and is not as adequate as a fire arm on top of the night stand and is not as adequate as a firearm under the pillow or not as adequate as sleeping with your fire arm in your hand... The same discussion can be applied to any situation a fire arm in going to be available for defense, like in a automobile situation. Carrying in the glove compartment, versus a car safe, versus between your legs, versus the barrel held against the inside of the car door...

Your effectiveness at defense in a carry situation may not be 100% unless you carry the 1911 cocked and locked, however if you're not confident in doing so it really is a mute point. I'd rather someone erred on the side of being 1 level below 100% effective defensively than carrying in a situation they aren't comfortable with.

The biggest draw back to carrying the 1911 not cocked and locked to me isn't the extra .5 seconds it takes to rack the slide, not the factor of lowering your odds in a quick draw only event, but the issue of it's now a guaranteed 2 handed requirement to defend yourself, that to me is the bigger issue

And that is why I'm comfortable carrying my Glock. :D It's always ready to go, but doesn't have a hair trigger. :D I may not be able to shoot a 2" group with a Glock, but then most bad guys are wider than 2"

.... plus the Glock has 6 more rounds than the 1911. :D Just in case I miss with the first few. Nah.

As I am a Conservative Democrat, myself, I am not sure what your point was.
