Make sure that you look inside the tank before you get it hydroed, if it has any type of lining inside of it it is basically junk unless you want to go though the hassle of removing the liner (I hear is can be done, but is a pain in the @$$)

If you really want a new valve you can buy a regular 3/4-14 NPSM valve and have a machine shop take it down to 1/2" tapered pipe thread.

But I think the actual capacity of the tank is 65 cf at 2250 psi and only gets to 72 cf when it is filled to the '+' rating. If it HAS a current '+' rating. At least, that's my understanding.

Correct ... the volume is only true with the plus rating. Which is why people get confused.

I just bought a couple of Dacor J valves for my double hose projects. While I was searching eBay, I ran across a number of 1/2" tapered thread J valves and at least one that says straight thread with o-ring.

But there is no reason to buy a new valve even if one was available. My LDS suggested that when I had a previous J valve serviced that they could disable the J feature. I assume they were going to remove some internal parts. I didn't want them to do that so I had them service it for full functionality.

I will do the same for the 2 valves I ordered last night.

If I really want to eliminate the J feature, I can tie the knob in the down position.

Never had a problem geting my lined tanks hydroed. If the facility knows the regulations it is not an issue.
