soooo....hopefully I can take her out next week for the shake-down. Lots of little things to do first.

I have my numbers on my tanks and flag.

Congratualtions on the boat and good luck with it.

I just had to share something my wife said today. We were snorkeling in Great East Lake, Acton, Maine today and had a great time. After an hour it was time to head back. We turned around at a point that had a very rocky intersting bottom but with a 45 minute swim back still to to it was time to leave. I had a great time collecting 41 golf balls (a personal best) and she liked the terrain. We've found that fall lake snorkeling is great since the boats are gone (no offense) and like today the water level has been dropped for the winter bringing the bottom world a little closer. The 3 feet or so seem to make a huge difference in how much bottom area is visible form the top. Anyhow I'm rambling.

Back to my point.... We used a state boat launch as our point of entry but since nobody was around we kinda ignored the no swimming signs (it's not really swimming anyhow, it's not like we hang around the place) when I pointed out to her (my wife, remember my wife) that we probably couldn't use this location in the summer when it was busy with boats she said.... we're just going to have to get a boat so we can use these spots.

Next summers objective is to get certified, then we'll worry about the boat!

Is your flag ON the boat or do you still plan to use the kind that you drag behind you?

I'm pretty good with navigation so I stay close enough to my boat. No need to carry one with me.

Nice, we finally picked up a boat this year, but didn't get much diving in. Older boat, a 1968 Luhrs 27' w/the dive platform. Great room out back for dive gear, not like the newer boats that are all cabin space.
Lucked out when someone I know moved to NC. Traded a Jetski as partial payment
Can't wait to get out diving next year

Nice boat! I hope you also found a good deal on marine varnish. All that wood takes a lot of work to keep it looking spiffy. It looks like the previous owner kept it up, though.

I'm off work this coming week if you want to dive or just have someone join you on your test-runs. My boat is under wraps for the winter now, but I'm still up for boat or shore diving if the sea calms down and the weather permits. I have my lobster license also.

my favorite shot of my First Mate. As you can see, she doesn't seem to enjoy the water or boats as much as her Daddy :Kissy:
