Your din fitting is incompatible with your valve

Enlarge the indent inside the back of the valve
I am sorry, but you suggest to fiddle/manipulate the valve of the tank?

You should never ever do this!

Scubaboard,

I feel like an idiot. I finally purchased my first regulators. I admit I fell in love with the sleek aesthetic of the DIN valve first stage. I’ve used them before, no problem. But tonight, I went to set up my DGX Custom Dive Rite XT1/XT2 DIN package and when I screwed the first stage into the tank valve, air kept escaping violently from the time escape hole behind the threads on the tank valve.

The o-ring looks good to me. Brand new, and all. I re-threaded it several times to make sure I wasn’t screwing up the threading. What could be wrong?

I dropped a few photos below: (1) the male end of the DIN on the first stage, (2) the rig screwed together, and (3) the bastard hole that is hissing like a cobra.

Help.

There is too much BS here.

Can't you take the set to a qualified service center who know what they are doing to take care of things and help you understand how to use it??

Yes your point is valid, however I subscribe to the dying art of doing things, and choose to maintain my skills

Mr Toyota diagnosed some help for my car offering to relieve me of $4000 which would have become $6000

So I did it myself for $30, still waiting to do my mechanics course

Take some risks do some stuff find some skills and maintain them

Taking it to LDS. Just thought I was doing something stupid/easily fixable.

you've likely turned your reg to loosen/tighten, don't do that!

now, find the correct allen key size and tighten the DIN connection on your reg.
yes is right turn it with an allen key but don't go crazy. just a tight snug.

Is the DIN on your regulator 200 bar or 300 bar ?

Is your tank valve 200 bar or 300 bar ?

A 200 bar DIN regulator in a 300 bar DIN valve will not seal.
oh didn't tought about this and this is right. Need to know if it s 200 or 300 bar. Otherwise the allen key trick should do otherwise it s the valve fitting that is incorrect.

otherwise you are not and idiot the good thing of buying your own equipment is to learn and face these kind of situations and sort it out. I had the same problem on my first dive of the year with brand new reg and tank. Air was hissing out from that little hole on the side of the valve. Never saw that in 200 dives. I use and allen key and turn the din connection. sort out.

on another dive a low port or hport was loose and air was blowing out from it. For some reason the o ring inside was misplaced.

One suggestion get you a o ring kit and carry i few tools that you leave in your car.

Be safe
